Woolworths launches the new StyleBySA Collection
t’s one of SA ’s most prestigious fashion events of the year and Top Billing has your front-row seat. The launch of the new Woolworths STYLE BY SA capsule collection at SA Fashion Week was a cause for celebration. Having worked with celebrities such as Beyonce , celebrity Make-Up Artist, Sir John partnered with WBeauty on each and every runway look, ensuring the STYLE BY SA collection remained well ahead of the rest.
Local, proudly South African designs coupled with the sort of innovation Woolworths is known for meant a night to remember.
Along with fabulous fashion and beauty, the night also had an important message to bring the forefront of both local and international fashion - environmentally conscious fashion.
One of the three STYLE BY SA capsules – Better Cotton, centered on fair trade and ethical sourcing. Every garment from the collection was created with the planet in mind. Only eco-friendly dyes were used on fabric sourced with Woolworths’ Better Cotton Initiative in mind – a commitment to developing ethical methods in the worldwide production of cotton.
Similar to the Better Cotton capsule, the Resort and Glam capsules wowed spectators and fashion insiders alike.
With designs from some of our country’s most established and respected designers like Gert-Johan Coetzee to emerging talent like Thebe Magugu and Maria McCloy, a spectrum of aesthetics and points-of-view was on show.
Key take-outs: this summer when it comes to beach attire, we’re going bold! And when it comes to glam and a night out in style, it’s a 70s throwback - metallics and shimmer in tones of silvers and bronze.
Not to be outdone by the fashion, the Woolworths immersive installation carried on the message of environmental consciousness.
Raw slivers of cotton hung from the ceilings – art at it are most pure and unrefined. At Fashion Week end, all of this cotton was to be donated by Woolworths to The Clothing Bank to help empower South African women. Taking it even one step further, every single piece used in the installation space – from scaffolding to photo booth – was to be integrated back into the supply chain.
