Passion, inspiration and empowerment took centre stage at the annual Durban Essence festival. Top Billing was there to join the joyous and the celebratory spirit of the occasion.
With something on offer for everyone, the Durban Essence festival is a jamboree of fashion, art, literature, music, food and business.
As part of the festival, the ‘Essence Eats’ event would showcase the best of African cuisine on offer. Not only food lover’s appetites were satisfied - as this year’s festival would also focus on beauty and style with some unique contributions from the local fashion industry.
The ‘Articulate Africa’ book fair created an opportunity for book lovers to connect with several of their favourite authors.
Olympic gold medalist Caster Semenya was also there to share her vision of empowerment with fans. The ‘Essence All Star’ gospel concert was another one of the top attractions at the festival.
American singer, poet and actress Jill Scott, best known for her lead role in ‘The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency’ TV series, would be the definitive highlight of the festival.
