Top Billing joins Bonang at Paris Fashion Week

Queen B. dazzles the French as she launches her book ‘Bonang: From A to B’ and takes us front row for the latest from Galliano at Paris Fashion Week.

 Some formidable women made their names in the French capital. Nineteen thirties entertainer Josephine Baker sang in cabarets across the city. In the eighties singer and model Grace Jones ruled the catwalks and cub scene. Now - there is a new toast of the town.

Our trip through this heartland of design took us to The Avenue Mahatma Gandhi and the Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation. An art museum and cultural centre which Queen B and her P.A. Tebogo Mekgwe were not about to miss. This building is to Paris what a designer handbag is to a stylish woman – the ultimate accessory. It is an education in form, function and style – Ms. Matheba’s favourite subjects.

In this city, the ever present Eiffel Tower is a reminder of how form and function come together to create enduring style. The kind which designer John Galliano has done for several Parisian fashion houses and our destination was his latest runway show.

Galliano’s combination of British and Spanish heritage has given him a feel for the classic style of Paris, Milan and the continent as well as the more progressive, daring tradition of U.K. fashion. Both were on show in the Spring/ Summer 2018 collection from this four-time British Designer of The Year.

Bonang’s look is always out of the top drawer but read between the covers and there’s so much more to this lady. Which is why she wrote ‘Bonang: From A to B’ and we return to the French capital for the book’s international launch.

After the show, Ms. Matheba got an early night because with daybreak came the international launch for the second edition of her book ‘Bonang – from A to B’. It kicked off with a signing at the Nelly Wandji Art Gallery.
A central theme discussed with host Sofyai Ida, is how Bonang credits her success to her mother Charlotte Mokoena.

Bonang has a strategy of reviewing her plans with her mother every five years but life still throws you curveballs.

The book reveals how this thirty year old dynamo took herself from child tv show host to Top Billing presenter; how she sealed her huge cosmetics contract and grew her brand.

Have patience, courage, invest in what makes you sparkle and you will succeed. So says Bonang.
