Top Billing gets to know Miss SA Tamaryn Green
As Tamaryn Green gets set to compete for Miss Universe, there’s been barely enough time to get to know her as our new Miss South Africa. So, this week on Top Billing, she eases off the pace a little and takes us home to wine country to meet The Family Green.
Born the year of our democracy Tamaryn is an emblem for the work it takes to build a society. Before the press attention, it has been her diligence, the support of parents David and Ellirene Green, loans and bursaries which put Tamaryn in sixth year medicine, following her sister Lauren, a qualified physiotherapist.
Another celebrated product of this area are the award winning Chardonnays and Cabernets of the Vrede en Lust wine estate where we met Tamaryn, her mother and her sister.
At home in Paarl we met the man who Miss SA calls her rock. Like her mother who is a teacher, Tamaryn’s father David Green also works in education as a curriculum adviser.
Way beyond a pageant victory, the social responsibility which comes with this title grows every year but so does the active, ongoing support of former Miss South Africas.
With all that is going Ms. Green keeps focused on the realities which she got into medicine to address. And when she returns to finish her degree, it will be with a profile which allows her to do so much more.
Here’s to another Miss Universe win, this December!
