Homeowners Kevin and Nandi Kai knows everything there is to renovating their house is the perfect example!
Kevin started in property development but then built a life and home from podcasts. It’s brought him and his wife Nandi Kai a wonderful life and in the process he’s helping thousands of people in need.
The Kais opted for a property in need of renovation to keep the cost low. A year later they called in the expertise of independent architect Jeanette Schachler to turn their dream into reality.
Kevin’s company creates educational podcasts for school children and company staff. A low data way of reaching a lot of people, anytime, anywhere. Their house shows a similar practicality while losing nothing in design.
As clean as the architectural lines, the interiors are uncluttered, neutral, with a pop of colour here and there. Smaller accessories can easily be rearranged over time to refresh the space. A garden atrium allows more natural light into the bathroom and the whole house shows an understanding of the simple pleasure in light, space and warm materials.
Kevin’s understanding of the value of light in a home began in cloudy London where he got his first job working for a large property developer. He learned a few other tricks too. It was brave of them to take on a fairly epic renovation while raising two babies but they’ve taken it in their stride.
