On a ride up the Magaliesberg’s Harties Cable-way, we discovered that George’s climb to becoming one of Kaizer Chiefs’ major strike weapons began in Mamelodi where his family supported Sundowns. Now, with five goals already in this season’s premiership, George is the tormentor of all teams, his old hometown club included. Chiefs certainly knew his value when they offered him a contract within a week of scouting him.
With increasing calls for our finest talents to play in Europe and bring those lessons back into the Premiership and our national game all eyes are going to be on George. For the moment, however, George’s team-mates and coaches are delighted he’s staying with them.
