Top Billing explores the art of corset making
Although trained in Fine Arts & Graphic Design, Arwen Swan got into fashion when she found it difficult to buy quality corsets. So, she fused a passion for sculpture and engineering and began making her very own pieces.
In 2001, she handed in her resignation to the graphic design company where she worked, taught herself to sew, and with no previous experience in the garment industry, set to work. Since then, the company has been through a number of incarnations and style changes and has grown from a one-woman operation to employing a number of full time staff and has emerged as Arwen Garmentry.
Arwen’s biggest support is her partner, Benjamin Skinner and her exceptionally skilled staff like, Monique Rossouw, who bring the designs to life.
The level of detail and artistry has earned the brand clients from America, across Europe to Australia and now there’s an online shop and a ready to wear range.
