Join Top Billing presenter, Jonathan, as he explores the deserted ghost town of Kolmanskop in Namiba.
The diamond mining town of Kolmanskop was developed after a railroad worker found a glittering diamond amongst the sand in 1908. The town only had a life span of 40 years, but the villagers lived the good life. Being very wealthy, and stuck in the middle of the desert, they made sure they had all the comforts they desired, including large lavish homes, an ice making facility, electricity, a swimming pool and a large multi-purpose entertainment hall that included a stage and gym equipment - and a skittle alley!
