Top Billing catches up with Generations star Brenda Mhlongo
The producers of renowned soapie, Generations have said that finding Nemo was easier than finding the right actress to play Jack Mabaso’s wife. Until the casting director spotted Brenda Mhlongo on Instagram, saw all that they were after and one audition later, the deal was sealed.
Brenda won a Broadway Spain Award for best actress and Best New Artist at Spain’s Premier Theatrical Awards. On television, she has had to scale down the size of her performance to draw the viewer in and she has taken to like the pro she is.
Once filming wraps on Thursdays, Brenda shuttles to Durban to join her husband Edmund and their son. In her Lion King Days she only saw the boys and her two daughters twice a year.
On her travels, Brenda has developed a taste for sushi, curry and with it, a gym programme to keep the kilos off.
For singing at corporate evenings, doing Afro pop and jazz numbers, Mrs. Mhlongo has developed a style of casual elegance that sits perfectly on her.
This pride of KZN has long said that her acting and singing talent is her most precious possession and she isn’t wasting an ounce of it.
