Top Billing Gets To Know Uzalo Star Dawn Thandeka King

We catch up with Uzalo star, Dawn Thandeka King in her hometown of Durban.

For many South Africans, she’s known as Lindiwe, but unlike her character in the hit soapie Uzalo, who is always in hot water, Dawn Thandeka King is a composed, talented, gracious and calm person. 
 
Harmony Katulondi chats to the actress who is a mother of five, a talented singer in a band and a traditional healer.  The actress’s character is often pushed to the limit by her criminal, cheating husband in the show, but Masoja Msiza who plays the villain always has Dawn’s back in real life.

 
The pair share a unique on-screen chemistry that many actors dream of and this magic is present both on camera and behind the scenes. Perhaps it is this magic that has catapulted the show’s success.

The two set off on an adventure through the streets of Durban's with Segway tour guide Thulani Khoza in tow, who teaches Harmony how to use the bipedal vehicle as they traverse through the hot city.

 
Dawn Thandeka King had her acting debut back in 2012 when she landed her first role as a gossipy & flirtatious domestic worker in a telenovela. The actress will be the first to tell anyone that her path to success from drama student held no shortcuts. It took hard work, focus & determination.
 
The pair continue their segway adventure to Durban’s Moses Mabhida stadium where they make use of the nifty SkyCar to get a panoramic view of the city from the very top. Dawn, a mother of five children has learned to juggle being a mother, actress, musician and healer. This is no easy feat, she tells Harmony as the two take in the sites around them. 
 
Acting, singing, radio acting, motivational speaking, MCing and spiritual healing, it seems as if there’s nothing Dawn Thandeka King can’t do!
