As David Tlale debuts his latest collection, we meet the woman who inspires him the most, his mother Joyce Tlale.

When we took a look at David Tlale’s latest collection, we met his mother Joyce Tlale, what a fascinating woman and here’s what she told us about her son.

This Autumn/Winter’s range is titled “Let’s Play Dress Up” and David’s childhood fascination with design is how it started. It was on these streets where his mother’s guidance, the influence of his uncles and the rich, cultural surrounds of the township shaped his future.

This internship program that David set up is here to help new talents avoid the tough lessons he had to learn as a young designer. David realizes that this feel for colour and form took shape as a child, watching his artist uncle paint landscapes on walls.
