Top Billinginvites you to witness a power play between the duelling stars of Generations
This week on Top Billing the battle of the Moroka brothers gets medieval!
There has rarely been a better time to watch Generations – The Legacy and stars Moopi Mothibeli and Musa Ngema are one of the reasons. Their performances as warring half brothers Smanga and Mazwi have gripped the nation and we think it’s about time these two just had it out.
Drawing millions of viewers, this rivalry sees the return of actor Musa Ngema to a show in which he first performed ten years ago. Now, in a new role.
Musa has spent years on SABC soapies so the 12 hour workdays and technical environment are a second home. Central to plotlines with touchy subjects like male infertility, sparks do fly when Mazwi enters a room. The other half of this explosive duo is Moopi Mothibeli. In his follow up audition for the show, he was paired with Musa - and that was it!
The characters these two play will have to break bread soon, so this was good exercise. The cheating and revenge of the love triangle Mazwi and Smanga are in can be stomach churning so Jon suggested that they have it out.
Most of Musa and Moopi’s preparation time each day is normally put into getting set for a war of words between their characters. Moopi researches upcoming plot twists and learns his lines for an hour each night. Any time he’s driving to work each morning is spent doing vocal warm ups. Prepping for a sword fight ……was much simpler.
