These women celebrated their day with a little bit of sweat for a good cause.
Now in its third year, The Annual Thando Thabethe Women’s Day Netball Challenge is aimed at restoring the voice and power of women, while celebrating their strides and efforts. Addressing issues from abuse to the underrepresentation of women in the economy, Thando’s using a very popular, active medium to spread the word.
The #TakeBackYourPower campaign has the support of women from Lillian Dube and Sophie Ndaba to Unathi Msengana and as important – guys like DJ Fresh, John Mametsa and Somizi Mhlongo. The ladies had a war dance and battle cry, the guys were working on strategy and once the action began, the flurry of green suggested this might be the girls’ year. Almost.
Behind all the action and funds raised, is a lady who is just 26. As strong a message as any to every woman and girl out there - that there’s nothing you can’t do.
