Springbok Jacques Potgieter marries actress Angelique Gerber
We travel to Durbanville for the wedding of this beautiful couple.
The sweeping Eureka Estate in the Durbanville winelands venue was of a size befitting this larger than life Springbok. In recent years he’s been a huge fan favourite playing in Australia and Japan. Now he’s back in blue – at The Bulls. Angelique is the psychology honours graduate best known as 7de Laan’s Clara.
The venue was contemporary with giant, open trusses and fireplaces and Margaux and Sunelle Van den Berg had a ball decorating. There were thank you gifts of silver earrings for the ladies and very elegant flowers. One of the bridesmaids was the actress, co-producer and writer of the films Pad na jou Hart and Vir Altd, Donnalee Roberts.
Since the couple met, their romance has survived Jacques’ career moves from Sydney to Durban to Munakata, Japan. Friends reckon they have a winning formula.
They now have the stability of knowing that Pretoria will be home for the next two years and that they’ll see more of friends like Karlien Van Jaarsveld and Jennis Williamson. They plan on having little Potgieters, but for now they’ll enjoy their honeymoon in Zanzibar.
