The Shortmarket Club here in The Mother City is a second generation success story. Chef Wesley Randles and manager Simon Widdison opened the venue with the backing of the two people who they’ve worked for over the last ten years. Renowned restaurateurs Luke and Sandalene Dale-Roberts. The design was all Sandalene.
The idea was to create a sense of occasion like the dining room of on an old cruise ship. The centrepiece is a wall of framed butterflies, conceptualised by artist Mark Rautenbach.
A wonderfully atmospheric braai barbecue section is a favourite element of chef Wesley Randles’ open kitchen. After winning a famous TV cooking show, Kamini hosted food and travel series, Girl Eat World where she took in the cuisine of ten different countries. But this cooking will make it hard to leave home again!
