Top Billing takes to the skies with Nambitha Ben-Mazwi
Mult-talented star and actress Nambitha Ben-Mazwi went from business woman to radio host to actress in international TV drama Black Mirror– and she’s not slowing down anytime soon!
Her love for the arts started at an early age, with her mother driving her to rehearsals and auditions from a young age. It didn’t hurt that her uncle was Winston Ntshona, legendary South African playwright, actor, Tony Award winner and anti-apartheid activist.
Nambitha’s prospects kept rising through careful balance and hard work. She got into campus radio while studying, then began presenting and doing auditions while holding down a finance job in I.T.
Despite a sizzling early career in business, her heart lay in the arts. It was on a holiday to New York that Nambitha decided to commit to show biz. She hosted at a comedy club there, returned home to do marketing for a radio station, landed her first TV series and was on her way.
Today she plays powerful characters like lawyer Benathi Zwide on SABC 1’s Diamond City.
While success is no stranger to the young star, she hasn’t forgotten her roots, and her family and friends are at the core of her success. Staying humble through her faith, Nambitha is also passionate about social upliftment and giving back, something she was taught by her parents.
Using her star power, Nambitha has her own women’s movement, does blanket drives and works with her church to better the lives of others.
As she aims for an Oscar to add to her uncle’s Tony Award, she likes to spend as much time helping other people, especially children, believe that they can make their dreams come true
